Chosen when the account is created.

**Company Admin** — you run a business and its books. Signing up creates your company and seeds a chart of accounts from the entity type and industry you pick. You can invite your staff, and invite an outside accountant to work in your books.

**Accounting Professional** — you keep the books for other businesses. Signing up creates your *practice* and no books at all, because a firm working on other people's companies has no ledger of its own. You add clients afterwards: either by accepting an invitation from a client, or by setting up their books yourself.

The difference matters most for a firm with many clients. One login holds all of them — you do not get an account per client, and switching client switches the whole product to their books, with everything you do recorded against your own name.

Somebody invited later becomes whichever fits: staff at the company, or an accountant working from their own practice. See [Inviting people to your books](https://intubu.intuitivecapital-dai.com/docs/invite-people).
