# What the assistant will and will not do

> Two modes, what each answers from, and why some questions are refused.

The assistant has **two modes**, and the toggle is at the top of the chat.

- **Help** — how IntuBu works. Answered from the Help centre, with the articles it used shown underneath. The same answer for everybody.
- **Your data** — your own numbers. Every figure comes from a real query you can re-run on the screen it links to.

The mode is a choice rather than a guess, because the two are answered from different places. Guessing would eventually produce the worst possible failure: a confident number drawn from the wrong source.

**It only talks about IntuBu.** Ask it for a poem, the capital of France, a joke, or to write, fix or explain code, and it says that is outside what it does — before any language model is consulted. When a model is used, the question is first classified as being about the product or not, the reply is drafted only from the Help article shown, and the draft is thrown away if it contains code, announces what the model "can do", or uses figures or vocabulary the article does not. None of that can be switched off.

**It answers questions; it does not do things.** There is no code-execution path in this product. Asking it to write a script, run SQL, describe the database, repeat a credential, or change your permissions is refused — not because a switch is off, but because that capability does not exist. The refusal says which of those it was, so you are not left guessing.

**It cannot reach data you cannot open.** If you have CRM access and ask about the ledger, the question is refused and nothing is guessed in its place. The refusal names the area — “Answering that needs Accounting” — and never any of the figures.

**Your administrator is told.** A blocked cross-module question notifies the company's owners with what was asked and by whom, so they can grant the access if you need it. Repeats inside an hour update that one notification rather than sending a new one each time.

**Nothing partial passes as complete.** When part of an answer is outside your access, the answer says what was excluded rather than quietly leaving it out. An answer that silently omits half the business is worse than no answer.
