# Saved import formats

> Name a mapping once and the next file with the same columns maps itself.

Section: Importing and exporting · Canonical: https://intubu.intuitivecapital-dai.com/docs/csv-formats

At the end of an import you are offered the chance to name what you just set up.

**Why it is worth doing:** the file you download from your card provider every month has the same columns every month. Naming the mapping once means every future import of that file skips the matching step entirely.

**How a file is recognised:** by the *shape of its header row* — the column names, normalised for case, spacing and punctuation, then fingerprinted. Drop the file and you are told which format it matched before you are asked anything.

**A saved format holds** the column mapping, the date convention, the decimal mark, the amount style, how many rows to skip, and any default account.

Import → Saved formats lists them with how often each has been used and when. Saving a new format under an existing name replaces it, so you never end up with two called "Amex" that quietly differ.
