# Customer statements

> A period statement of everything a customer owes, in balance-forward or open-item form.

**Two formats:**
- **Open item** — every unpaid invoice listed individually. Best when customers pay invoice by invoice.
- **Balance forward** — an opening balance, then the period's activity, then a closing balance. Best for accounts with continuous activity.

**Statement runs:** generate for every customer with a balance at once, filtered by aging bucket so you can, for instance, statement only accounts over 30 days.

Customers can also pull their own statement any time from the [customer portal](https://intubu.intuitivecapital-dai.com/docs/customer-portal) without asking you.
