# Estimates and quotes

> Quote the work, then convert the accepted estimate into an invoice or a purchase order without re-keying it.

Sales → Estimates.

An estimate is a document like any other, except that it posts nothing to the ledger. Nothing is earned until the customer says yes.

**Statuses:** Draft → Sent → Accepted / Declined / Expired. An expiry date moves it to Expired on its own.

**Converting:** an accepted estimate offers two conversions.
- **To an invoice** — the whole estimate, or part of it (see [Progress invoicing](https://intubu.intuitivecapital-dai.com/docs/progress-invoicing)).
- **To a purchase order** — for the items you have to buy in to do the job.

The estimate keeps a link to everything created from it, so the Estimate vs Actual report can compare what you quoted against what the job really cost.
