# Projects and job costing

Projects → All projects.

**Assigning:** every document has a Project field on the header, and each line can carry its own — so one bill can be split across several jobs.

**Profitability:** income (invoiced lines tagged to the project) minus direct costs (bills, expenses and inventory tagged to it) minus labour (hours × the employee's burdened cost rate).

**Budgets:** by category or as a total, with a threshold that notifies you when consumption passes it.

**Unbilled:** time and expenses not yet invoiced are shown separately, and *Create invoice* pulls them in with any markup.

With the Construction pack on, projects are called **Jobs** and gain cost codes, AIA progress billing, retainage and WIP.
