# Promises to pay

> Record a commitment, then check it against the ledger rather than taking it on trust.

When a customer says "you'll have it by the 15th", record it: customer, date, amount.

**While it stands**, that customer drops off the chase list. They have told you when it is coming; calling again before then is wasted effort.

**When the date passes**, run *Reconcile promises*. IntuBu checks the ledger for payments that actually landed:
- Enough arrived → the promise is marked **kept**.
- It did not → marked **broken**, and the customer returns to the worklist with the shortfall recorded.

Broken promises feed the customer's history, which raises their priority next time. A pattern of broken promises is the clearest signal you have that a limit or hold is needed.
