# Receiving on the dock and directed putaway

> Receive against a PO with over/short/damaged exceptions; each line gets a suggested bin, and the ledger gets exactly the good units.

**Pick the PO**, or scan it. Each line shows what was ordered, what has already come, and a **suggested bin**: the item's home bin first, then a bin that already holds it, then the emptiest bin in the location. You can put it somewhere else; what matters is that the bin sub-ledger says where it went.

**Exceptions are recorded, not argued with.** Damaged units are counted separately and never received into good stock. A short delivery ticked *Final* short-closes the line; an over-delivery beyond the purchasing tolerance is refused. The receipt keeps the exception and its note, so the vendor conversation starts from facts.

**What the ledger gets** is the item receipt purchasing already posts (D6): the good units at PO cost, into Inventory Asset. The warehouse adds only *where* — the bin — never a second version of *how much*.

**Put away later.** A line received to the dock waits under "awaiting putaway" until someone gives it a bin.
