## How it works

Account number plus licence key. Rates are requested at document save using ship-to, ship-from and the item tax code, and the returned tax is stored on the line — never recalculated at report time, so a historical invoice keeps the rate that was actually charged.

## Why it matters

US sales tax has ~13,000 jurisdictions and post-Wayfair economic nexus. This is the canonical example of a problem no accounting vendor should solve themselves.
