How it works

REST API with consumer key/secret over HTTPS, plus optional webhooks. Orders map to sales orders; gateway fees are read from the payment provider connector rather than guessed from the order total.

Why it matters

Self-hosted stores are the long tail of e-commerce and are usually the least integrated.
