The automation log: what runs on its own
Settings → Automation log lists the jobs that run automatically for your company, when each last ran, what they did recently — and a Run now button for each.
Settings → Automation log. Company administrators only.
What runs automatically, and how often:
- Deliver webhooks — every minute; see Webhooks.
- Send queued email — every minute; the outbox for invoices, reminders and anything the mail server did not accept first time. Up to five attempts per message.
- Create recurring invoices — every 15 minutes; see Recurring invoices.
- Post recurring journals and Post scheduled reversals — every 15 minutes; see Recurring journal entries and Reversing entries.
- Run and email scheduled reports — every 15 minutes; see Scheduled report delivery.
- Send automatic payment reminders — every hour, only when Send reminders automatically is on; see Payment reminders and dunning.
- Create preventive-maintenance service orders — every six hours; see Service contracts and preventive maintenance.
How do I run one now? Press Run now on its row. It runs for this company straight away, even if nothing looks due, and the message says what it did — created: 2 · checked: 3, or nothing to do. If it failed, the message is the error.
Recent activity lists the runs that did something or failed: when, which job, the result, and how long it took. A run with nothing to do is not listed, so a quiet log is normal. History is kept for 30 days. A failure for one job never stops the others.
This is not the same as Settings → Automations, where you build your own trigger → condition → action rules.
