Turning an opportunity into a quote or invoice
One click creates the accounting document, creating the customer first if it does not exist.
A won opportunity becomes an estimate, a sales order or an invoice without anyone re-typing it.
What happens:
- If the account has no linked customer, one is created and linked — an AR document has to name a real customer.
- A document is drafted with the opportunity's name and amount, against your income account.
- The opportunity keeps a pointer to what it produced.
That pointer is the point. It is what lets campaign return read real revenue, and what lets the integrity check find won deals nobody has invoiced yet.
The document is created as a draft, so nothing posts until someone has looked at it.
The other direction. An opportunity can be raised for an A/R customer that has no CRM account yet — the account picker on the opportunity form lists Customers without a CRM account yet, and choosing one creates the CRM account and links it to the customer, so the 360° view and the pipeline agree on who the company is. Callers using the API may pass customer_id for the same effect.
