Subscriptions and plans
Plans with a price, billing interval and trial; customers subscribed to them; renewals run in batches; failed renewals go through dunning on days 1, 3, 5 and 7.
Sales → Subscriptions.
Plans carry a price, a billing interval and an optional trial. Subscribe a customer to a plan with a quantity; the subscription shows its status (trialing, active, past due, cancelled), next renewal date and monthly value.
Renewals. Run renewals raises the invoices due — for every subscription whose renewal date has arrived — and, where a card is on file through the online-payments provider, takes the payment. Run it daily by hand or let the scheduler do it.
Dunning. A renewal that fails to collect moves the subscription to past due and enters the dunning queue: retried on days 1, 3, 5 and 7, with the customer notified each time, then paused per the plan's policy. The queue shows what is due to retry and when.
MRR & cohorts sums active subscriptions by month, shows monthly churn, and groups customers by the month they started so retention is visible. The same figures feed SaaS metrics. Revenue from a subscription is recognised over the period it covers — see Revenue recognition schedules.
