Working as an accounting practice

Your client list, adding a client, and handing a company over to its owner.

Clients.

Every company your practice works on, in one place. Opening one switches the whole product to that company's books.

Two ways a client arrives:

  • They invite you. They add you from their own People & access screen, and the company appears on your list.
  • You set them up. Use "Set up a new client" and a fresh set of books is created, which only your practice can reach until you hand it over.

Handing over means inviting the business owner as a Company Admin. The books belong to the client's own organisation from the moment they are created, so this is an invitation rather than a migration. Until you do, the client is marked as not handed over — a client who cannot log in to their own accounts is worth flagging rather than leaving implied.

Ending an engagement removes your whole practice from that company at once, and is done by the client from their side.
