What your customer sees: accepting a proposal and signing a contract

Each proposal and each contract signer gets a private link: the customer reads it and accepts or signs by typing their name, with no account to create. Sequential signers are emailed in turn.

When you send a proposal or a contract, the email carries a private link. The link is the key: the customer does not create an account or sign in.

A proposal (Open the proposal) shows its content and the pricing table with the lines you included, and an Accept this proposal box. The client types their full name — that is their signature — and presses Accept. Their name, the time and their network address are recorded. Accepting creates the accepted estimate, signs any contract attached to the proposal, and turns a lead into a customer. There is no decline button. Once the expiry date has passed the page says it has expired and asks them to contact you.

A contract (Review and sign) shows the full text with the merge fields filled in and the list of signers. To sign, the signer types their full name and ticks I have read this document and agree to sign it electronically. Their name, the time, their network address and browser are recorded with a fingerprint of the exact text — the audit certificate described in Contracts and e-signatures.

Signing in turn. With Sequential signing, a later signer who opens their link early sees who signs first and that they will be emailed when it is their turn. As each person signs, the next is emailed their link automatically, from your connected mailbox. When the last signs, the page says the agreement is complete and the contract shows as executed.

Things to know.

  • The links are sent from your connected mailbox; see Connecting your email. For a proposal with no mailbox or no address you can copy the link and share it yourself.
  • You can record a signature or an acceptance yourself when one is given on paper or in person.
  • A link for a proposal that has not been sent yet, or one that no longer exists, shows This link isn't available.

See Proposals and Contracts and e-signatures for preparing them.
