Card and ACH checkout on invoices

A Stripe checkout link on an invoice — card or bank debit — posted to the books when the money arrives.

Settings → Payments, and "Request payment" on any open invoice.

How it works. You connect your own Stripe account once. On an invoice, Request payment creates a hosted checkout link; you paste it into your email. The customer pays by card or by ACH bank transfer. The card number never touches IntuBu.

Money goes to you. This is Stripe Connect: the account is yours, payouts land in your bank. IntuBu holds only a token that can create checkouts on it.

When is it recorded? When the money is actually received:

  • A card payment posts the moment it succeeds.
  • An ACH transfer sits at processing until it settles — usually 3–5 business days — and is recorded only then. A debit can bounce in that window, and marking it received early is the classic way to book income that never arrives.

What posts. The gross payment settles the invoice into a Stripe Clearing account. The processing fee posts to Merchant Processing Fees against clearing. What is left in clearing is exactly what Stripe's payout will bring to your bank, which is what makes the bank line reconcile.

Ways to pay. Card is on by default. ACH is opt-in under Settings → Payments, because the settlement delay is a trade-off you should choose. ACH is US-dollar only.

A link you sent by mistake can be withdrawn while it is still open. A payment that is already settling cannot be stopped from here — it will post when it clears, or fail on its own.

If webhooks cannot reach this server (a laptop, a strict firewall), the Check button on a request asks Stripe directly and posts it through the same path.

If payment links are not offered yet, online payments are not switched on for this installation; every payment screen says so rather than pretending, and invoices can still be paid and recorded the ordinary way.
