Showing cash and accrual together on any report
A third option on the Accounting basis dropdown runs the report both ways and puts the difference beside them.
Every report with an Accounting basis control offers three choices: Accrual, Cash, and Cash + Accrual.
Choosing the third runs the report twice and pairs it into three columns — Accrual, Cash, and the Difference between them.
It is not a third basis. It is the same report, run both ways. That matters: the Accrual column is identical to what the report shows on its own, so nothing can drift between the comparison and the single-basis view.
Where the difference comes from is almost entirely timing — revenue earned but not collected, and expenses incurred but not paid. The two headline statements also carry a written reconciliation; see Comparing cash and accrual side by side.
On a report that ignores basis — an aging, say, which is a list of what is owed rather than a measure of profit — the option falls back to accrual rather than printing two identical columns and a column of zeros, which would read as a finding rather than as nothing at all.
The comparison exports like any other report, in every format.
