Setting up a new company
Six steps: account, company details, migration, bank connection, chart of accounts, and your first document.
Settings → Setup wizard walks through six steps. You can leave and come back; progress is saved.
- Account — your name and sign-in.
- Company — legal name, entity type and industry. Entity type drives your equity accounts (an S-corp gets Common Stock and Shareholder Distributions; a sole proprietorship gets Owner's Equity and Draw). Industry suggests an industry edition.
- Migration — bring books over from any of 23 systems, or start clean.
- Bank — connect a feed or import a file.
- Chart of accounts — review the ~65 accounts seeded for you and adjust.
- First document — create an invoice or bill to see the posting.
