Payment safety

Vendor-impersonation controls, duplicate detection and positive pay.

Banking → Payment Safety.

Three controls, aimed at the ways money actually leaves a business by mistake.

Vendor bank changes are blocked, not flagged. An email asking to update remittance details is the most successful invoice fraud there is. A change to a vendor's bank details puts every payment to that vendor on hold until somebody confirms it out of band, and the confirmation is recorded with who did it.

Duplicate detection catches the same invoice entered twice — same vendor, similar amount, near date — before it is paid rather than after.

Positive pay produces the issued-cheque file your bank matches presented cheques against, so an altered or forged cheque is refused at the bank.

None of these can be switched off quietly: turning one off is an audited change.
