The technician's day: parts, labour, signature, invoice
My day on a phone: on my way, arrived, parts off the truck, the labour timer, a quote on site, the customer's signature, and an invoice at completion.
Service → My day (the technician), Service → Technicians (the dispatcher).
A technician is an employee with skills, a daily capacity, and a truck — an inventory location. Stock is transferred to the truck like any other location; the day view shows what is on it and what needs restocking.
Working the job. On my way and Arrived tell the customer. Parts come off the truck (more than the truck holds is a warning); labour is typed in minutes or run on the timer; a call-out or travel fee is a line. Labour bills at the technician's billable rate rounded up to the company's rounding (15 minutes by default) and costs at their burdened rate for the real minutes.
Quote on site. A finding with a price becomes an estimate the customer can accept there and then; accepted lines join the order.
Sign-off is drawn on the screen and kept on the order.
Complete records work done, findings for next time, travel minutes and the meter reading. In invoice on completion mode the invoice exists before the van leaves: each line becomes an invoice line, parts carry the truck location so cost of goods posts from it, and covered lines show at $0. Review in a batch mode leaves completed orders for one Invoice completed click later — every row that can be invoiced is, and the ones that cannot say why.
Profitability (Service → Profitability) is billed less labour at cost, parts at FIFO cost and travel at the per-minute rate under Service settings, by technician, contract, customer or order.
