E-filing sales tax with TaxJar (E-file)
Taxes β E-file (TaxJar) sends a period's invoices, sales receipts and credit memos to your own TaxJar account, where AutoFile files and pays the returns. Re-sending updates rather than duplicates.
Taxes β E-file (TaxJar).
IntuBu sends; TaxJar files. This page sends your sales to your own TaxJar account. TaxJar AutoFile then files and pays the returns β switch AutoFile on for each state inside TaxJar. IntuBu does not file with the states itself.
How do I set it up? A company administrator connects TaxJar on the Integrations page with your TaxJar API token (TaxJar β Account β SmartCalcs API). Tick Sandbox token only for a sandbox token β a sandbox send files nothing. See Connecting Twilio, EasyPost and TaxJar with your own account.
How do I send a period? Choose From and To (this quarter so far, by default). The table lists every invoice and sales receipt (sent as orders) and credit memo (sent as refunds) dated in the period, with where it shipped, the sales, the tax, and what will happen next. Press Send N to TaxJar. Sending needs permission to edit taxes.
What is sent. The tax you actually charged on each document β nothing is recalculated. The ship-to comes from the document, or the customer's shipping or billing address. Exempt customers go as exempt.
Sending again is safe. Each document is sent under its own id, so a second send updates it in TaxJar rather than adding a duplicate β Will update. A document you have since voided or deleted is removed from TaxJar β Will remove (voided).
Skipped, and why. A document is skipped, with the reason shown, when it has no state and postal code on the document or the customer β add them and send again β or when it shipped outside the US, because TaxJar files US sales tax only.
After a send the message counts what was sent, updated, deleted, skipped and failed, and each row's Last sent shows the outcome. A failed row shows TaxJar's reason; fix it and send again. Sending is something you do β it does not run on its own.
