Seeing financial detail from CRM
Cross-scope grants let a rep see a balance without giving them the books.
A CRM account and an accounting customer are the same company, so a rep looking at an account could usefully see whether it owes money. That is not automatic.
Cross-scope grants are separate, explicit permissions:
crm.read.customer_financials— balance and aging on the customer recordoperations.read.item_costs— cost and margin on itemsservice.read.contract_billing— contract billing in Serviceaccounting.read.pipeline_summary— pipeline totals in Accountingmarketing.read.customer_financials— financial signals for building segments
Without the grant the panel is absent, not blank. A blanked-out figure still tells a rep that a figure exists, and people learn to ask about what is hidden. Instead the screen says plainly that financial detail needs a permission, and names it.
The same rule applies to AI answers: a question whose answer would need data outside your access says so rather than quietly leaving it out.
