Receiving on the dock and directed putaway

Receive against a PO with over/short/damaged exceptions; each line gets a suggested bin, and the ledger gets exactly the good units.

Warehouse → Receiving.

Pick the PO, or scan it. Each line shows what was ordered, what has already come, and a suggested bin: the item's home bin first, then a bin that already holds it, then the emptiest bin in the location. You can put it somewhere else; what matters is that the bin sub-ledger says where it went.

Exceptions are recorded, not argued with. Damaged units are counted separately and never received into good stock. A short delivery ticked Final short-closes the line; an over-delivery beyond the purchasing tolerance is refused. The receipt keeps the exception and its note, so the vendor conversation starts from facts.

What the ledger gets is the item receipt purchasing already posts (D6): the good units at PO cost, into Inventory Asset. The warehouse adds only where — the bin — never a second version of how much.

Put away later. A line received to the dock waits under "awaiting putaway" until someone gives it a bin.
