Sales orders and backorders
Commit stock to a customer before you ship it, and track what is still owed when you cannot ship it all.
Sales → Orders. A sales order records a commitment to ship. Like an estimate it posts nothing — inventory and revenue move when you invoice.
What it does do: it commits stock. Committed quantity is subtracted from what is available to promise, so the same widget is not sold twice.
Pick list: each order prints a pick list showing bin locations and quantities.
Partial shipments: invoice what you can ship. Whatever is left stays on the order as a backorder, visible on the Backorder report, and the order stays open until it is filled or you close it short.
